Life, Oneness, and You

One Self, Yet Many Unique People

We All Share the Same Self Yet Are Unique

Previous content on this site, including quotations by respected teachers, has already made the point that there is only one Awareness and One Self that lives within all of us. Yet every one of us is unique. How this is possible is explained below. It is quite important to understand both parts of this - what is the same, and what is different?

Only One Consciousness

There are many versions of the following diagram, called the Spirit Soul and Body diagram. Some give a lot more detail than others, but they are generally in agreement. The diagram shows us as having three components, with Spirit in the center, surrounded by our Soul and then our Body.

The Spirit component contains the One Self that is the same within all of us. However, our Souls and our Bodies are different for each of us, enabling us to be unique.

Body-Soul-Spirit

As shown in the diagram above, there are many things within our Soul/ Personality that are unique to each of us, including our beliefs, attitudes, feelings, emotions and memories (memories formed during our whole life), and also the way each of us think, reason and make choices.

In the Body component our brain and our five senses, and many systems including our nervous system are different for each person. Our gender is also a factor too.

Role of Our Brain

Our Brain is Unique, but it is Not Our Self

Our brain enables us to function in the physical world, and seems to hold many of our beliefs and memories.

Our brain and its contents are unique for each of us, but that does not mean that our brain contains our Self. Our brain is physical, our Self is spiritual.

Our brain communicates with our Self and vice versa, but does not contain it. The following section helps to illustrate this.

Our Brain Does Not Make Decisions

Our mind and its organ, the brain, collects and processes information for us to make decisions, but decisions are not made by the brain. I read this interesting fact in one of the books by Greg Kuhn in his "Quantum Physicists Don't ..." series.

Kuhn said in his book that brain scientists can see where the processing is done in the brain to collect information and get ready to make a decision, prior to a decision being made, but not where the decision is actually made. My belief is that this is because decisions are not made in the physical brain, but by our Self in the spiritual (non-physical) realm. They are picked up by the physical brain for implementing.

Our Brain is Not the Source of Consciousness

Awareness and Consciousness do not originate in our brain. Our brain tunes into the Awareness that exists everywhere. Compare this truth with the quite unaware views in our societies, medical systems and governments, that Awareness and Consciousness originate within our brains.

Nassim Haramein has a quotation on this:

The Brain and Consciousness
